Swindon Lightning Cheerleading Club aims to help young people engage in physical activity. We welcome children of all abilities to train in a fun and safe environment. Cheer training is fantastic for helping improve self-confidence, motivation and physical fitness.
Competition Teams
Swindon Lightning Cheerleading club has highly successful competitive Tiny, Mini, Youth, Junior, and Senior teams that regularly take part in both regional and national competitions across the UK.
Cheer for Fun
Cheerleading is an inclusive sport that requires gymnastics, dance, teamwork and commitment. It is accessible to children of all ages to take part in a high energy activity, make friends and of course have FUN!
Prep Teams
Prep teams are for children who have progressed from Cheer for Fun and are ready to learn the skills required in preparation for trials to join the competitive cheerleading teams.
Gym Babies
In these sessions, you will help your baby to develop kinaesthetic and proprioceptive awareness using their bodies and apparatus. It is a great way for your to bond with your baby and socialising with others.
Toddler Tumble
Fun sessions where your toddler will learn the fundamentals of movement and basic gymnastics skills and practice gross and fine motor skills. Toddler Tumble is also a great way for your child to develop their social skills.
Events
As well as a full competitive programe, Swindon Lightning Cheerleading regularly host cheerleading workshops and demonstrations for schools and groups in and around Swindon.
What’s On?
Cheerathon 2022
We are holding a 12-hour ‘Cheerathon’ on 12th February 2022 to raise £5000 to extend the sprung floor in our gym. All our competitive teams will be performing throughout the day, there will be a showcase display from 12 noon, and cakes, souvenirs, and lots of lovely SLCC merchandise and goodies will also be on sale. BCA Competition
After such a long absence due to the pandemic, we are looking forward to a full schedule of competitions in 2022. Our first competition will be at the BCA Super Classic in January 2022. Our athletes are working hard to deliver some brilliant performances, please wish our competitive cheerleading teams the very best of luck!






Cheerleading
Cheerleading is a mix of gymnastics, acrobatics, jumps, stunts and dance. Cheer is a fully inclusive sport and caters for everyone’s talent and ability from toddlers to adults. Swindon Lightning offers enjoyable development to all its students from complete beginners through to elite athletes.
Covid Restrictions
We are keeping up to date with guidance from the government as well as Sport Cheer England to ensure this season will run as safely as possible. A number of measures have been implemented to help keep the athletes and coaches safe including additonal cleaning regimes, temperatures checked on arrival, hand sanitiser is applied when athletes enter and exit the training facility and we require regular lateral flow testing for athletes of secondary school age.
